Anna Mae Knicely, 87, of Alexandria Virginia passed away following a long illness on Thursday July 17, 2025.

Anna Mae was born March 19, 1938 in Wabasha, Minnesota to Walter & Helen (Grant) Koelmel. She married Wiley H. Knicely of Harrisonburg, Va.

She worked for almost 30 years, serving as a bus aide to the disabled children of Fairfax County. A passion that she had all her life to help children and she greeted them each day with a smile and the hand of help for each one of them.

Survivors include her son Willard W. Knicely (and his partner Bob Whitman) of Alexandria, VA; Sister Berdela (Koelmel) O'Brien (Robert) of Wisconsin; Grandson Jesse Knicely (Tina) & great grandson William of Bardstown, Kentucky; Grandson Shan (Knicely) Eberly of Winchester, Vä; & great grandson Hudson and several nieces and nephews.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Wiley, Daughter Jacqueline and son Jeffrey Knicely. In addition she was also predeceased by her sisters Margie Wysinger, Rosie Vetter, Florence Frank, Marcella Koelmel and her brothers Walter B. Koelmel & George Koelmel.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Friday July25th at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, Va followed by an additional service and committal at the Briery Branch Church of the Brethren on Monday July 28th in Harrisonburg, Va.
