Anthony Atkins Obituary

Anthony Wayne 'Tony' Atkins, 43, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away July 19, 2025 at The University of Kansas Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, July 28, 2025, from 3-5 pm, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, 925 E. Route 92, Kearney, Missouri 64060.

Tony was an incredibly loving, caring, and patient husband, father, teacher, and coach. He was the PLTW teacher at Excelsior Springs Middle School and coached girls HS basketball and MS track (only 2 of the many coaching positions he held over his career). He was passionate about teaching and coaching; and always strived to support and push his students to be their best both in the classroom and on the court/field. His kindness knew no bounds and he would do anything to help anyone, without hesitation or expectation. On July 22, 2025 Tony helped those in need for the final time by saving the lives of 3 individuals and helping multiple others through organ donation. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and passion.

Tony is survived by his wife Amy Atkins, children Finley and Daxton Atkins of Excelsior Springs, MO; father and mother Rick and Lori Atkins of Rosendale, MO; brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Stephanie Atkins, and nephew and niece Nick and Emily Atkins of St. Joseph, MO; father-in-law and mother-in-law Dan and Linda Kimberlin of Livingston, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brian and Megan Kimberlin, nieces Grace and Izzabelle Kimberlin of Kearney, MO; grandmother Lois Robbins of Savannah, MO; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial donations can be made at The Kearney Trust Company, 310 Rt-92, Kearney, Missouri, 64060. Where an account has been set up for Tony's children, Finely and Dax. Memorial offerings can also be dropped off at any of the Hidden Valley Funeral Home locations, or given directly to the family.
