Arthur "Art" Bailey of Fountain City, IN. passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, on July 9, 2025, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Arthur was born in Letcher, KY. on August 6, 1943, to Hiram and Lizzie Hurd Bailey. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 with 3rd Squadron/12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division in Germany. Art retired from Masterbrand Cabinets after 43 years as a supervisor. He was a member of Buena Vista Christian Church of Farmland and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Art enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed target shooting, deer hunting, and fishing with his sons.
Art leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 57 years, Hazel McCracken Bailey; two sons, Greg (Tina) Bailey of Fountain City, IN. and Brian (Miki) Bailey of Winchester, IN.; Granddaughters, Elizabeth (David) Reeder of W. College Corner, IN. and Rebecca Bailey of Richmond; great grandsons, David Wayne Reeder III aka "Trip" and Daniel Gregory Reeder, both of W. College Corner. In addition, he leaves three sisters, Maggie McGhee of Evansville, IN., Alta Bailey of Letcher, KY., and Wanda Knoll of Fountain City, IN.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Lizzie Bailey; sisters, Bonnie Blair, Mable Bailey, Iona Adams, Illa Smith and Margie Stanley; and brother, Hubert Bailey, all of Letcher, KY.
Visitation for Arthur "Art" Bailey will be Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, Indiana. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, Richmond, Indiana. Burial will be at Willow Grove Cemetery, Fountain City, Indiana.
