Arthur Helfrecht Obituary

Arthur Carl Helfrecht Jr., of St. Charles, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2025, at the age of 77.
Arthur was born on December 22, 1947, in Saginaw, Michigan. The son of the late Arthur Helfrecht Sr. and Ella Rhode. He graduated from St. Charles High School, and joined the United States Army, bravely serving for four years in the Vietnam War. On February 12, 1972, he married his wife, Wanda Roe. They spent 34 wonderful years together before her passing in 2006. Together they had three children, Daniel, Joey and Kari. After serving his country, he made his career as a machine repairman for General Motors, retiring after several years of dedicates service.
Art was the definition of an avid outdoorsman, no matter the weather. He loved riding motorcycles, trail riding, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, going on pontoon rides, and spending time in northern Michigan. Art was known for his soft spot for animals. He was a cherished grandpa, who took pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything.
Arthur is survived by his children, Daniel (Stacie) Loeblein and Kari Helfrecht; daughter-in-law, Carol Loeblein; grandchildren, Amanda, DJ, Mason, Jacob, Kassie, and Noah; 6 great-grandchildren; his partner, Charlene Shank; and his beloved animals. He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Loeblein; wife, Wanda Roe - Helfrecht; and siblings, Lorretta and Betty.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 2:00pm until 7:00pm at McGeehan Funeral Home - St. Charles Chapel. A funeral service will take place on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 1:00pm with visitation one hour before the time of service at McGeehan Funeral Home - St. Charles Chapel. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held at the Brant Township Hall.
