Fred was a lifelong resident of Clay County and retired from Russell Mills after over 30 years of services. He loved his family, country music and playing his guitar.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra Jett Roland; two sons, Jonathan Roland and wife Amanda of Pell City and Kristoffer Roland of Cragford; two grandchildren, Anyssa and Lilly; one brother, Harold Roland and wife Patricia; and several nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rosetta Roland and his siblings, Lou Adams, Katie Brown, Mary Hall, Willie Joe Roland, Lee Roland and Betty Blaydes.
The family will plan a memorial at a later date.
