In Loving Memory of Aruna Shah
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Aruna Shah, beloved great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and wife, who left us in the early hours of Monday, January 27th, 2025.
Born on October 25th, 1939, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, to Ichhaben and Chhabildas Mehta, Arunaben was the third of four children. She was a lively and outgoing young girl with a deep love for her family and a penchant for dining out-an enjoyment that stayed with her throughout her life.
In 1959, she married Harshadlal Bhogilal Shah, with whom she shared 61 years of devotion and joy. Together, they built a loving family, raising two children-Kashyap (born 1961) and Hardika (born 1963)-who remained her greatest pride and joy. Arunaben was a fierce advocate for education, ensuring that her children received the opportunities she never had. Her unwavering strength, deep-rooted traditions, and steadfast devotion to Sri Krishna (whom she fondly referred to as Thakurji) guided her family through life's triumphs and challenges.
Arunaben will be cherished and remembered by her children and their spouses, grandchildren (Harshil, Puja, and Ami) and their spouses, and great-grandchildren (Aria and Kiara). Her love for games-and her legendary refusal to let anyone else win-brought laughter and joy to many. She found comfort in her daily TV shows and newspapers, which she read religiously every afternoon.
A funeral service will be held at Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 Route 27, North Brunswick, New Jersey, on Friday, January 31st, at 9:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of her life.
