Aurelia (Aurie) Adele Davy died on May 15, 2025 as the sun was shining in the sky. It was a warm and fitting moment of passage, since Aurie was the bright light in so many people's lives. Her daughter Elizabeth was there to hold her hand.
Aurie was born on August 2, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, raised by her parents Matthew and Clara (nee Borowski) Jablonski. She often
reminisced about her time at St. Michael's and St. Francis Catholic Schools, her parents' corner grocery store, and growing up in a household that primarily spoke Polish.
No matter what Aurie did, she gave it her full heart. She worked for Young and Rubicam Advertising in her early days (her hands were the model used for the first Hamburger Helper magazine layout), and later completed 26 years of employment at Dreyer Medical Clinic. As an empty nester, she worked tirelessly attending night school for 9 years to achieve her degree in photography from College of DuPage. Her specialization in botanical portraits brought her local and national recognition, with many of her works of art appearing in private collections, galleries, and Fortune 500 companies.
Aurie's devout Catholic faith carried her throughout her life, and she was a founding member of St. Katharine Drexel Church in Sugar Grove during the last decade of her life, freely giving her time and talent as seamstress of the baptismal robes and confirmation stoles.
Aurie's main focus and passion was always her family and friends. She possessed a generous heart, a keen sense of humor, and was able to make ordinary days and events seem remarkably special. She had an exceptional way of celebrating life to its fullest. She held high standards; she was a progressive thinker, an avid reader, an enthusiastic golfer (achieving a hole in one), a mighty Bridge player, a staunch Democrat, and she always rooted for the underdog.
She will be sorely missed by her daughters, Elizabeth Davy and Aimee Davy-Blake, her granddaughter Taylor Adele Blake, and nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Camille Davy, husband Gerald Davy, and brother Matthew (Sally) Jablonski.
The family will receive friends on May 30, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8S055 Dugan Rd., Sugar Grove, IL 60554.
