With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Ayanna Destiny Ashby, who left this world far too soon on July 23, 2025, at the age of 24, surrounded by her loved ones. Ayanna was born on March 20, 2001, in Petersburg, Virginia to Linda Washington and James Ashby Jr. Ayanna brought light and laughter into every room she entered. She had a vibrant spirit, was funny, outgoing, and full of life. Known as the life of the party, she had a special gift for making everyone around her smile and feel like family. She was a person you could talk to without fear of judgment; she was a true angel. Ayanna was deeply compassionate about art and music, often expressing her creative soul through her work. A proud graduate of Killeen High School (barely), she pursued a hardworking career, contributing her talents at various factories, including Tesla. Above all, Ayanna was known for her loving heart. She deeply cherished her family and friends and was always ready to lift others up with warmth and energy. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who knew her. She never met a stranger. She believed in everyone and was always so excited and proud of other people's accomplishments. She is survived by her parents, Linda and Nathaniel Washington, and Stepmother, Tierra Ashby. Her siblings are Deon (Megan) Scott, Jailynn (Kenny) Arnold, Alicia Austin, Darian Ashby, Portia Ashby, Jhaquille Ashby, Kierra Merton-Ashby, Nina Ashby, G'Nae Ashby, and A'aliyah Ashby. She is preceded in death by her dad, James Ashby Jr., Cousin Bailey Lynn Shedd, and Aunt Lacy Thomas.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our mother's side of the family for dropping everything and rushing to our side the moment they received the call. Your love and support during this time mean more than words can express. Thanks to Aunt Peggy Morris, Uncle Thomas Shedd, Cousin Jennifer Gentry, and to Ayanna's best friend's Jasmine and Kam.
