Barbara Ann Adams, age 72, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL.
Born on March 16, 1953, in Chicago, Barb was a true daughter of the Windy City-raised among its vibrant neighborhoods and spirited people. She retired from State Farm Insurance company after years of service. She was a cherished friend, sister, mother, and grandmother.
Barb was preceded in death by her loving parents, Merlynn E. Wolz and Rosemary (Kasper) Wolz.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sarah Dodson (Jake); her treasured grandsons: Jeremy, Alexander, and Benjamin; and brothers, James E. Wolz (Karen) and Thomas E. Wolz (Alyson) and their children and grandchildren.
Barb's sense of humor was quick, witty, and a little mischievous and left an imprint on everyone she met. Her laugh was unmistakable: big, bold, and contagious. It was the kind of laugh that could light up a room and lift spirits in the darkest moments.
She was deeply involved in her Evergreen Park Community, including church where she was active in preparing youth for first communion. Some of her fondest memories were participating in a YMCA children's group with her daughter, Sarah. She adored her grandchildren and delighted in their every milestone, cheering them on with unwavering love.
Barbara Ann Adams lived with heart, humor, and fierce love. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the stories we tell, the laughs we share, and the love she leaves behind.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
A private family memorial will be held to celebrate her life.
In honor of Barb's giving spirit, the family invites those wishing to honor her memory to perform an act of kindness in her name, make a donation to Fifth Seasons Assisted Living in Marion, IL, or to a community organization of their choice.
