East Providence, RI. Barbara Patricia Anderson, 90, a long-time resident of Silver Lake, NH and formerly of Warwick, RI passed away on December 14th at Tockwotton Assisted Living in E. Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Anderson for 67 years.
Born on March 17, 1934 in Cranston RI, Barbara, was the daughter of the late John and Marion (Mason) Lever. She was the eldest child of 5 children, a role which she embraced.
She grew up in Cranston and graduated Cranston High School 1952. She attended The Children's Medical Center in Boston, MA graduating from the Children's Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. Barbara knew from a very early age that she wanted to be a nurse and pursued her passion of caring for others. She worked as a pediatric nurse in Providence and subsequently began teaching pediatric care nursing students. In 1973, Barbara and Henry bought Silver Lake Motor Lodge and moved to Silver Lake, NH. Seeing a need for affordable senior housing, they subsequently converted the motor lodge to Silver Lake Landing apartments and rented to seniors. Barbara continued her profession in New Hampshire as a visiting nurse in her local community.
Barbara met the love of her life, Henry at Secret Lake in RI. Where one went, the other was not far behind. Henry the driver, Barbara his co-pilot, traveled near and far, always in tandem, whether it be in Silver Lake, Florida or Europe, including navigating the challenges of Chernobyl.
Barbara and Henry were pillars of the community as active members of Madison Church, serving meals in the dining room of Silver Lake Landing to the Gibson Center seniors and always willing to help those in need.
Barbara was a kind, compassionate, gentle soul. She was always available to answer the calls of family and friends, providing a lending ear with wisdom and a healthy dose of perspective. Delighted in the company of family and friends, she along with her husband Henry hosted infinite get -togethers with trips around Silver Lake and perhaps a prolonged trip for lunch.
Barbara is survived by her sister Carol Nordman of Kokomo IN, her sister in law, Arlene Lever of Hagerstown, MD and her nieces and nephews, Berndt W. Anderson of Warwick, RI, Jane Anderson of Andover, MA, Tracey Donnelly of Warwick, RI, Michael Stewart of Glocester, RI, Lori Webber of Warwick, RI, Linda Delfino of East Greenwich, RI, Eric Swanholm of Warwick, RI, Jill Singer of Archibald, PA, Dianne Baer of Kokomo, IN, Christine Mickelson of Noblesville, IN, Timothy Nordman of Kokomo, In, A.
