Barbara Louise Anderson, age 80, of Hanna City, formerly Mason City, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at The Arc in Chillicothe.
Barbara was born on March 31, 1945 in Santa Monica, CA to Chester Wheeler and Regina (Schreiner) Arnold. She married Jerald Lee Anderson on October 19, 1966 in Munich, Germany. Jerry preceded her in death on April 11, 2010. Also preceding her in death are her parents and her brother, Chester L. Arnold.
Surviving are her daughters, Julie (Daniel) Detrick of Huntsville, AL and Regina (Steve) Crowe of Brimfield, IL; her grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer) Detrick, Samuel (Linzee) Detrick, Maggie (Alex) Kopek, Wyatt (Ali) Detrick, Billy Crowe (Sarah Johnson) and Sean Crowe (Addy Turner); and her great-grandchildren, Mila Detrick, Gianssen Valdez and Noah James Detrick. Also surviving are her sisters, Carol (Roger) Rochlen and Regina Alonte; her brother, Chester W. (Frances) Arnold; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved friend and sister-in-law, Jackie (Jack) Anderson.
Barbara graduated from Glen Burnie High School (Maryland) and then attended cosmetology school. She retired from Affina in April of 2010 after 15 years. Barbara enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren and sketching and she loved spending time with her family.
Barbara's family would like to thank the Arc staff for providing her such love and care.
Cremation rites will be accorded through Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to EP!C of Peoria or Cats of West Central Illinois. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Barbara, please visit our Tree Store.
