Barbara Ann Possail was born on December 14, 1940 to Everett and Marjorie (Rokeh) Giles on a farm near Hendricks, Minnesota. She attended a country school in Brookings County through the 8th grade. She was confirmed in the faith in 1952 at the Methodist church in Hendricks. She began 9th grade in Hendricks for a few weeks until her mom and siblings moved to Marshall, Minnesota. In the summer of 1956 their father, Everett passed away, which is what prompted the family’s move to Marshall. During her high school years, she worked at Reines Café in Marshall. After graduation she met Jerald Possail and the two were united in marriage on November 27, 1961, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler, Minnesota. The couple purchased the farm in Marshfield Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota where they farmed their entire married life. They raised pigs, sheep, and horses for many years. They also milked cows until 1994. After that time, they raised Angus cattle until the unexpected death of Jerald on August 17, 2012. After Jerald’s death Barb continued to live in their home until she passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Avera Tyler Hospital in Tyler, Minnesota.
Barb enjoyed listening to old country music and working on her “Fill-It-In” puzzle books. She treasured the time she was able to spend with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barb is lovingly remembered by her children, Gloria (Larry) Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Wayne Possail, Peggy Possail, and Lisa (David) Muenchow, all three of Tyler, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Larinda (Steven), Christian, Lyle, Jonathan (Sara), Morgan, Natalee (Kamy), Madison (Jonah), Riley (fiancée, Casey), and Haley; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Emerson, Violet, Bentley, Travis, Kade, Azalea, and Ryder; siblings, Kenneth Giles of Tracy, Minnesota, Colleen (Russ) Enga of Luverne, Minnesota, Darell (Lois) Giles of Balaton, Minnesota, and Donnie (Mary) Giles of Larchwood, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald; parents, Everett and Marjorie; brother, Roger; sister, Carol; grandson, Kurtis; granddaughter-in-law, Crystle; and nephew, Rick.
Blessed be her memory!
