Barbara Ann Waters, age 93, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in Winnfield.
Born on April 29, 1932, in Kraft, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Cyril Woodrow Booth and Lela Evans Booth. Barbara was a longtime resident of Winnfield and a devoted member of First Baptist Church.
A woman of many talents and great warmth, Barbara was known for her green thumb and love of gardening. Whether tending to vegetables or flowers, she found great joy in nurturing life. She also enjoyed fishing and was happiest when cooking for her family. Her signature dishes-gumbo, chicken spaghetti, and potato salad-were always prepared with love and care, and her homemade Christmas candy was a cherished tradition.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H. Waters; her parents; her brother, Tommy Booth; and her sisters, Peggy Hammonds, Mona Boone, and Anita Kay.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: James R. Waters of Winnfield, John Waters, Jr., and Priscilla Traczewitz; her grandchildren: Craig, Marcie, John, Chris, Tara, and Ryan; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Waters will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 7th, 2025 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Keyes officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Clay LaCroix, Tim Zimmerman, Joey Suen, Cody Zimmerman, Zach Zimmerman, and Danny Booth. Honorary pallberers will be Bobby Joe Johsnson, Brandy Hammonds Jr., and Billy Boone.
