Barbara “Barb” Hartzell age 83, of Terre Du Lac passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025, at her residence. She was born on Sunday, March 8, 1942, in St. Louis, to the late Harry Albert and Lena Marie “Wilson” Ifland.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Hartzell; beloved son, Robert Eugene Sontag; siblings, Harry and Larry Ifland; brother-in-law, James Leavitt.
Barb spent a fulfilling career at Meridian Medical Technologies in St. Louis. Following her retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her husband Larry. Barb cherished her time with her grandchildren when they were little, filling their lives with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Barb was a devoted member of Lively Stone Tabernacle in Desloge, her faith guided her throughout her life, offering her strength and solace in times of need.
Barb is survived by her grandchildren, Alex James Sontag, Samantha Eisenbeis and husband Kevin; great-grandson, Cooper; siblings, Linda Leavitt, George Ifland and wife Judy, Richard “Rick” Ifland and Paul Ifland along with several nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral home in Bonne Terre on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 10:30 A.M. until service time of 1:00 P.M. Pastor Charlie Gentry will be officiating. Burial to follow at Saint Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.
