Barbara J. (House) Howell, age 74, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2025, with family by her side. She was born September 20th, 1950, in Sigourney, Iowa to Raymond and Alberta (Sampson) House. She was united in marriage to Floyd (Wayne) Howell on November 23rd, 1972.
She attended Harmony School in Farmington, Iowa. She later graduated from DMACC college in 1995 with her license in Nursing Home Administration. Wayne and Barbara moved to Southwest Missouri in 2006. In 2015, Barbara chose to retire. Barbara proudly gave her life to the lord on February 23rd, 1998, and was a member of Peaksville Christian Church. After moving to Miller, Missouri Barbara joined the Miller Christian Church.
Barb was an avid baker and jelly maker! She showcased her creations every weekend at Mt. Vernon Farmers Market. Many sought out her delicious treats and knew her by "Barb's Goodies". Fall was her favorite of all the seasons. The best part of the fall for Barbara was the hayrides and weenie roasts!
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandma. Barbs' greatest love was her family. Any reason at all was a reason for a family dinner to bring everyone together. It was important to her to share with anyone she knew that she believed that "blood doesn't make you family." She selflessly opened her heart and soul to many.
Surviving are four children, Stacy Howell of Mt Vernon, Missouri, Denise (Caco) Estrada of Keokuk, Iowa, Steve (Candi) Howell of Wayland, Iowa, Kevin (Candie) Howell from Palm Coast, Florida, Stacy Howell of Mt Vernon, Missouri; grandchildren Derrick (Gabby) White, Sierra (Gage Richardson), Angelo (Maxi) Estrada, Marika (Sara) Estrapala, Cora Jean McAdams, Summer Howell, Bryan, Dalton and Dillion Howell. In addition, she is survived by one sister, six great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, "adopted" children and friends.
Barbara is proceeded in death by her loving husband Wayne, her parents, one sister Bonnie House, one brother Glen House, one niece Melanie Skinner, one son in law Chris White.
A celebration of life will be held at the Miller Christian Church in Miller, Missouri on the 26th of July at 1 p.m.
Interment of ashes will be at Chambersburg Cemetery on August 8th at 10am, with a celebration of life at Peaksville Christian Church to follow.
Memorials may be made to Miller Christian Church or Peaksville Christian Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home and Crematory.
