Barbara Holly Rogers, of West Barnstable, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 17, 2025 at the age of 93.
Barbara was born in Bridgeport, CT to Sophie (Nevelus) Holly and John W. Holly, Sr. on March 8, 1932. In 1951 Barbara married the love of her life, Donald Swift Rogers.
Barbara had been a resident of West Barnstable since 1965 when she moved there from Milford, CT with her husband and children after spending summers in Brewster and falling in love with the Cape.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Donald, in 2019 and her five brothers: Ted, Donald, Richard, John, Jr., and Edward.
She is survived by her three children: Richard (Vanessa), Randy (Anne Marie), and Holly Rogers, as well as three granddaughters: Sanna (Alex) Nisbet, Caity (Kosta) Tsoleridis, and Tory (Gavin) Driscoll. She loved spending time with her 7 great-grandchildren: Tory, Kosta,
Niko, Kayla, Quinn, Riley and Mak.
Barbara spent time as a legal secretary before becoming a real estate title examiner and running her own title search company called Cape Titles Inc. Barbara and her husband Donald proudly owned and operated Holiday Farm Cottages in West Barnstable since 1965.
Barbara was an avid quilter, antique collector, and church goer. She greatly enjoyed the friends she made in quilting and church groups. She took pride in being an active and very involved member of West Parish Church. Volunteering at West Parish’s Rooster Crows Christmas Fair was a favorite of hers.
Barbara enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cross stitching in addition to quilting. If she gave you a gift, it was more than likely homemade. In her younger years, she spent many hours creating beautiful paintings which could be found on display around her home.
Barbara spent a lot of time gardening; she always kept her gardens immaculate and full of flowers. On sunny days, she could be found outside enjoying her gorgeous property or swimming in the pond. Board games, card games, puzzles, a good book, or movie were some of her favorite ways to spend a rainy day.
Some of her most memorable adventures were RV trips with Don. The last 20 years they spent winters going to TGO in Titusville, Florida where she had many cherished friends.
Barbara loved nothing more than sitting on the beach at Garrett’s Pond (which her grandchildren fondly refer to as Gramspond) visiting with cottage renters and family.
Granddaughters and great-grandchildren were an important part of her life. She always had a special touch when it came to little ones.
Barbara’s family would like to extend sincere a thank you to WBFD for all the help they provided to our family in the last couple of years. Additionally, we would like to thank Spaulding Rehab and Mayflower’s rehab unit for their great care of Barbara during her stays there.
