With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ben Gregory Lerma at the age of 78. Ben was a 1966 graduate of H.M. King High School and then a proud veteran, serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked alongside his father for Wright Plumbing, which led to their eventual partnership as owners and operators of Central Plumbing and Heating in Kingsville, Texas. Ben and his father worked together as partners for over 30 years.
In 1972, Ben married Belinda Gonzalez and together, they raised two daughters who blessed them with four cherished grandchildren. An avid fisherman and voracious reader, Ben found peace and joy by the water’s edge or in a book.
Ben leaves behind his two daughters, Thelma Flores (John Flores) and Tammie Lerma; his four grandchildren, Carson Flores, Colbie Flores, Kenedy Lerma and Jackson Kind; his four siblings, Charlie Lerma (Irma Lerma), Norma Leal (Gilbert Leal), Margaret Lerma and Joseph Lerma (Susie Lerma); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He now joins his beloved parents, Ralph and Inez Lerma, in eternal rest. Ben’s legacy of service to his country, dedication to his community, and love for his family will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
Honoring Ben’s memory as Pallbearers are Joseph Lerma, John Flores, Omar Perez, Adam Perez, Jackson Kind, and Aiden Salinas. Honorary pallbearer is Daniel Garza.
