Bennie Ray Carouthers Jr., a cherished husband, father, and friend, departed this world on July 7, 2025, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of love that will resonate through the hearts of all who knew him. He was born on July 30, 1956, in Liberty, Texas, where he began a life that would be marked by kindness, loyalty, and an undeniable spirit that could light up a room.

Bennie was a proud pipefitter and dedicated his career to his craft with the same commitment he gave to his family. His life was a tapestry woven with the vibrant threads of his many roles—kind, loving but tough as a nail, a larger-than-life personality who never met a stranger. Wherever he went, there was always a crowd, captivated by the warmth of his character. His loyalty and protectiveness, particularly towards his beloved wife of 27 years, Phyllis Ann Carouthers, made him the matriarch of a family built on strong bonds and unwavering support.

He was a family man in every sense of the word, reveling in the joy found in simple moments—fishing, hunting, and camping, living harmoniously with nature amidst the woods he adored. The kitchen was his domain, particularly during family gatherings, as he poured love into every meal he prepared. July 4th was his favorite occasion, a time to barbecue and create lasting memories surrounded by family and laughter.

The love Bennie shared with his children, Julie Crisman Nance, David Crisman, Johnny Ray Goodwin Jr. and his wife Carmen, Sherry Lynn Foti and her husband Gerard, and Denman Eli Goodwin and his wife Missy, was profound and unwavering. He cherished his grandchildren—Justin, Tia, Harley, Steven Tyler, Tristan, Reagan, Hailey, Kacie, Lindsey, Destiny, Ashley, Travis Jr., Makayla,  Ashlynn, Adam and Alexis—filling their lives with joy and wisdom. The joy of being a grandfather to numerous great grandchildren brought him immeasurable happiness, a testament to his enduring legacy.

Bennie is survived by his adoring mother, Mary Edith Carouthers, his wife Phyllis Carouthers, his siblings Judy Carouthers, Ruby Carouthers, Johnny Goodman and his wife Linda, Sharon Granger and her husband Steve, Weeto Carouthers, and Nathan Carouthers. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews: Johnny, Hannah, Ross, Jeremiah, Meredith, Justin, Jake, Elijah, Sarah, Buffy, Annie, Amanda, Heather, Matthew, Emma, Sybil, John Melvin, Angela, Jeremy, Jason, Melissa, and Vickie who were all touched by his love and strength.

He now rejoins those he has lost—his father Bennie Ray Carouthers, sons Travis Crisman and James Crisman, and his sister Patsy Singleton and her husband Aaron, who will surely greet him with open arms, forever cherishing the bond they shared.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Tabernacle Ministries in Batson, Texas. The funeral service will commence on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Tolbert Hudspeth. Interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas.

Bennie Ray Carouthers Jr.'s memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who loved him. His spirit, much like a warm fire on a cool evening, will provide comfort in times of sorrow and a reminder of the joy of togetherness.
