Berdie Faye Manis Collins, age 77, of Rogersville, passed from this life on Thursday, July 3, 2025. She finished her earthly journey and went on to her Heavenly Home as her sister and daughters were talking with her sharing memories and laughter.
Berdie was a huge hummingbird collector. She loved reading, working puzzles, working in her flowers and garden. She spent many loving hours working on her quilts and sewing. Berdie was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for many, many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lawrence Collins, whom she lost in 2013; parents, Morgan and Pina Manis; brothers, Hugh Lee (Gene) Manis and infant brother, Lee Franklin Manis; sisters, Georgia Justice (Kyle), Edna Sizemore (Carl), and Peggy Chappell (Virgil).
She is survived by her daughters, Jane and June Collins of Rogersville; sister, Pearl Manis; sister-in-law, Joyce Manis; very special friend of 69 years, Eva J. "Jannie" Horner who they shared everything together; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family of Berdie wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Amedysis Hospice Care and especially to Nurse Callie.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Chuck Lowe officiating. Graveside service will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Davis, Lowell Lawson, Brandon Justice, Andrew Horner, Jody Horner, Jamie Stewart, Rick Justice, Andy Kenner, Wayne Horner, and Rick Christian.
