Bessie Mae Smith Durham, 82, wife of the late L.C. Durham, of Pendleton went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2025.
Born in Walhalla, SC, She was a daughter of the late Fletcher and Willie Blackwell Smith.
Bessie loved to spend her time outdoors gardening. When she wasn't outside, she could be found spending her time cooking delicious meals for her beloved family, She was also a faithful member of East Clemson Christian Fellowship.
Bessie is survived by her sons, Steven Durham (Tammy), and Billy Durham (Renee); her daughter, Angela Gibson (Tony); nine grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren and two on the way, four great great-grandchildren; her siblings Turner Smith, and Minnie Manley; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Mary, Willie, Ann, Doc, Roy, Lucy, Rita, and Martha.
The Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 11:45 PM on Monday July 7, 2025, at East Clemson Christian Fellowship. The Funeral Service will follow visitation starting at 12 PM in the Church. Burial will follow the service at Memory Gardens of Clemson, SC.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Upstate Rainey Hospice House at hospiceoftheupstate.com.
