Bette Schenck Obituary

Funeral service for Bette Schenck will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the First Lutheran Church in Algona.The service will be livestreamed on First Lutheran Church's Facebook Page. Burial will be held at a later date at the Norway Township Cemetery, rural Kanawha. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church.

Bette Lou (Amosson) Schenck was born March 26, 1947, in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Duane and Edith (Johnson) Amosson. After her father's death, her mother married Carroll Burras, he was the best stepfather.

Bette was diagnosed with lupus at age 16. She received wonderful care at the Mayo Clinic for 62 years.

On August 5, 1978, Bette was united in marriage to Sandy S. Schenck at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Kanawha.

They enjoyed happy years together, some travels, and many Arizona winters. Bette was a wonderful wife, companion and partner. Her family was the best. She enjoyed being with her relatives, church, quilting and puzzles. Recent years of back pain made everything difficult.

Bette died Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa, at the age of 78.

Bette is survived by her husband, Sandy; a brother, Tom; a sister, Carol and nieces and nephews.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather and a brother, Jim.
