Deaconess Bettie Magdalene Seldon was born August 22, 1939, to Deacon Russell and Deaconess Lucille Dunn. She attended and was educated in the Greensville County Schools. She was a member of the Royal Baptist Church,
Emporia, Va. for many years and later united with New Hope Worship Center,
Emporia, Va., where she was an active member and faithful Deaconess.
Bettie had many jobs, but her lasting job was driving cabs for Halifax Cab Company for 15 years where she worked until she retired. Bettie was a prayer warrior. Any time you asked her to pray, she was right on it. The love of her life was being a part of the prayer line every morning at 5:00 am and again at 12: Noon. You could always hear her include in her prayer without fail, "Father bless my husband, my children, my grandchildren and all five of my sisters." Her favorite song was "This Little Light of Mine" She was known to all as "Aunt Bettie". She was an excellent cook in her-day and she fed everybody who came her way. She taught many to "know how to hold and when to fold". Her wit and her wisdom will be truly missed.
Bettie was united with Samuel Seldon, the love of her life on August 4, 2001. He always referred to her as 'his beautiful wife". In her testimony she always said, "His teeth and tongue may fall out sometimes, but I still love him. Because he always takes good care of me." He really took great care of her until he could no longer.
Along with her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Morrow, Jr., three daughters: Joyce Ann Johnson, Valery Turner, Deborah Worrell, two brothers: Russell Dunn, Jr., John Henry Dunn, two sisters: Christine Dunn, Shirley Trotter and four grandchildren.
