Betty Jean Andal, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 22, 2025, in Salem, Oregon, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Born on May 26, 1921, in Lemmon, South Dakota, Betty was the daughter of Loyd McCaslin and Marjorie (Kirkland) Gehlen.

Betty graduated from Lima High School in Montana in 1939 before pursuing her dream of becoming a beautician. She attended Groom's School of Beauty in 1940 and later Phagen’s School of Beauty in Salem, Oregon, in 1954. Her dedication led her to become a licensed beautician and a proud business owner of La Femme beauty salon, serving the communities of Mill City and Stayton with her artistry and expertise.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Betty found joy in many facets of life. She had a profound love for the outdoors, where she nurtured beauty from the earth, and she embraced the graceful movements of ballroom dancing with enthusiasm. A skilled artisan, she crafted dresses, cards, and porcelain dolls, each piece reflecting her meticulous attention to detail and love for creativity. Betty was also an avid golfer, finding peace and joy on the greens. Her culinary talents were equally admired, and she was especially known for her mastery in making sourdough pancakes.

Betty’s devotion to family was at the heart of everything she did. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Rustam Klutke, Maxwell Klutke, Malia Klutke, Leilani Klutke, Desirae Yellowhorse, Danny Klutke, Amy Harris, Melissa Andal and Jill Jacopi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Elmer Klutke and second husband Don Andal Sr., her sister Shirley Tucker her sons, Ross R. Klutke and Dennis R. Klutke and grandson Jaime Klutke.

Betty Jean Andal was a woman of grace, resilience, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her memory will live on in the stories she shared, the creations she lovingly crafted, and the lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.
