The daughter of George C. and Alice Alverda (Moss) Burns was born on August 18, 1942, in Walla Walla, Washington. Betty lived nearly all her life in Anderson after the family moved here when she was a young child. Betty graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1960. After high school, Betty enjoyed a long career working for Delco Remy in a variety of positions including working as a customer service specialist and quality control clerk. Betty is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tom Beaty, along with the five children from their blended family: Barry, Tony, and Angela Harl, Joyce (Lonnie) Moles, and Tommy (Elizabeth Marie) Beaty, Jr.
Betty was blessed to be survived by five grandchildren; Kara Jones, Kasara Beaty, Tori Beaty, Dakota Poor, Gage (Julie) Poor, and ten great grandchildren; Caleb and Leighton Johnson, Neiqo Anthony, Kyler Beaty, Quentin and Broly Lamberson, and Brinlee, Brennox, Rowan, and Ellis Poor. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald and James Dewayne Burns, three grandchildren: Andy and Brandon Beaty and Chloe Poor, and one great grandchild: Nora Poor.
Betty was a member of the Alpha Rho Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 65 years. As a dedicated sister she held a Torchbearer degree and served on the State Board and as State President in 2003-2004. Betty was a faithful follower of Christ and was a member of the Daleville Community Church of the Nazarene. Betty also served as "grandma" at church by serving in the Nursery.
