Betty J. (Wheatly) Crutcher, 97, passed peacefully at Ridgeview Care Center after a short illness. Everyone who knew Betty loved to watch her work in her yard. She was incredibly proud of her yard and continued caring for it until she was in her nineties. Throughout the years, Betty was an avid bowler and played in tournaments all over. In fact, at one time, she won a trip to Las Vegas with her team! As small as she was, she could hold her own on the alleys.
She worked at Woolworth Insurance after she graduated and continued to work until she became a mother to Sandy and Bobbi. Being a mother gave Betty great joy. After the girls were of school age, she returned to work at Musgrave's. This is where she met Robert Crutcher, and they married shortly after. She loved her family, and this was what she thought of as her greatest accomplishment.
She is survived by her daughter, Bobbi McNair; by her grandchildren, Patty (Larry) Henson, Mark (Carrie) Wiseman, Jason (Sharlotte) McNair, and Joe Wiseman; by several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her adoptive mothers, Lila and Ellen Snodgrass; her husband, Robert Crutcher; her daughter, Sandy Garrard; and her grandson, Eric Heath McNair.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Family and friends may come to pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service, which Celebrant Curt Goodwine will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to "Meals on Wheels", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
