National Mine- Betty L. Maki, age 85, lifelong area resident, passed away on Saturday June 28, 2025 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family, and nursing home staff.
Betty was born in Ishpeming on January 16, 1940, daughter of the late Joseph and Violet (Roberts) Solka. She was united in marriage to her late husband Charles Maki on November 5, 1973, they shared 37 years of marriage together until his passing on June 27, 2011.
Betty enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, loved listening to George Jones, and held a special place in her heart for her granddaughter- Makenzie Rajala.
Betty is survived by 2 children- Melissa (Ken Rajala) Maki, Brian Maki, granddaughter- Makenzie Rajala, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband- Charles Maki.
Following Betty's wishes, cremation will take place with a private graveside service to be held in the Ishpeming Cemetery. A public celebration of her life will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Tuesday July 8, 2025 at the Trinity Lutheran Church where coffee and dessert will be served.
