Betty R. McCune, 99, passed away July 10, 2025. She was born March 27, 1926 to Archibald and Alma Bracht in Rose Hill, KS.

In her 99 years, Betty lived a blessed life and left a beautiful legacy behind. She was born in 1926 during the Great Depression, which shaped her core values of faith and gratitude. Betty was born on a farm outside of Rose Hill, Kansas where she was raised in the Christian faith. She was a long-time member of the Douglass Church of Christ.

As a child Betty lived close to her cousins, with whom she had many great childhood memories. She attended Rose Hill & Douglass schools and would often share memories of being in the 1st grade riding a horse to school. She graduated from Douglass High School in 1944. She loved attending high school reunions over the years and staying connected with her classmates. After graduating from high school, she spent time in California and returned to Douglass, Kansas. She married Kenneth in 1946. As a married couple Betty and Kenneth lived in Douglass, Benton, and on the Prairie Land & Cattle Company Ranch. Kenneth was the ranch manager and Betty loved staying home with her 6 children (Sally, Sonie, Steve, Randy, Mike & Tim) and being Mrs. Kenneth McCune. In 1994, she and Kenneth adopted two of their grandchildren, Audra and Mandi, after they had just retired and moved to the farm. They were starting over again & knew they could do it by the grace of God.

Betty loved reading, gardening, spending time in her orchard on the ranch and farm. She enjoyed mowing her yard and took considerable pride in doing that as long as she was able. She was always very active in teaching bible classes, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and later in life loved having a full pew when her family joined her for church services. She loved hearing her husband and sons sing beside her during church services. Kenneth and Betty also loved singing acapella as a duet and in a group for funerals & enjoyed area wide church singing. She was involved in 4H and enjoyed being the cooking instructor for 4H. She loved listening to Paul Harvey, Rush Limbaugh and kept busy with Sudoku puzzles. She loved babysitting her grandchildren regularly and especially loved her time with Branson, Connor, Molly, and Noah as she babysat them over the years before they started school. It was the joy of her life to have them daily at her house when they were little.

Betty always met you with the biggest hug and most contagious smile and laugh. She loved her time with family and always enjoyed gatherings, birthday parties and family reunions. After Kenneth passed away in 2002 her family started gathering every year for her birthday like it was the biggest holiday. She loved the attention and every single person that walked in the door. She was proud of each child, grandchild and great-grandchild. She would always say it was hard to believe her and Kenneth started this big family of theirs.

Her love for Christ and her family remained in her heart her entire life. Even in her late 90's she could be found reading her Bible and still felt like she had room to learn and grow.

Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; daughters, Sally Ann, Sandra Leigh; brother, Donald Bracht and sister, Donna Jean Watt. Survivors include her children, Steve (Carla) McCune, Randy (Shannon) McCune, Mike (Lori) McCune, Tim (Kim) McCune Audra (Burl) Moore, Mandi (Jamie) Rivera; siblings, Todd (Ramona) Bracht; son-in-law, Garry Truitt; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
