Betty Jo (Turner) Robertson passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025. She was born on April 5th, 1931, to Aubrey Brown and Mary Sue (Horton)Turner and raised in Anes Station, Tennessee with her life-long best friend and sister Tabitha.
She married David Lane Robertson February 25th, 1955, and the couple soon started their travel with the US Navy. Two of their most memorable stops were Trinidad and Tobago where they welcomed their daughter Terry Sue, and Virginia Beach, Virginia where they welcomed their son Michael.
Betty Jo was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and a cherished member of the Lynchburg community. She held many meaningful roles in town. One of her most treasured was working as the librarian at The Moore County Public Library from September 1973-October 1994. Likewise, she's remembered for her hard work with the Lynchburg Historical Society. She was a member of Booneville Church of Christ, frequent visitor of the Senior Citizens Center, member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, and former hostess at Miss Mary Bobo's. She found happiness in life's gentle joys – bird-watching, gardening, canning vegetables from her family's garden, and cooking. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where friends and strangers alike were treated as family, and her cooking nourished body and soul. Betty Jo had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and at home no matter who they were.
She was preceded in death by parents Brown and Mary Sue (Mae) Turner, loving husband David Lane Robertson, sister Tabitha Pewitt, and daughter-in-law Robin Robertson.
She leaves behind her two children: Terry Sue Fanning (Stanley) and Michael Robertson. Six grandchildren: Katie (Travis) Presson, Joey (Kelly) Robertson, Abby (Kyle) Smith, Ryan Robertson, Hailey (Zach) Brazier, and Kelsey (Graham) Edson. Eleven great-grandchildren: Kurt, Owen, and Olivia Smith; Daniel and Barrett Presson; Riley Kate, Reagan, and Nolan Brazier; Chloe and Laney Robertson; Audrey Edson. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Wayne McGee and Bro. Kyle Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Booneville Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Moore County Public Library Lynchburg Hwy, Lynchburg, TN 37352.
