Betty Lou Woods, aged 89, of Reese, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, June 16, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw. Born on February 10, 1936, in Garner, Iowa, she was the cherished daughter of the late Adam and Catherine (Bashans) Green. Betty's life was enriched by love and companionship when she married Marvin Woods on April 9, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan. Their union was a testament to enduring love, lasting sixty-seven years until Marvin's passing on June 8, 2022. Together, they lovingly raised three children, creating a family legacy of warmth and kindness.
Betty's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as her trips to the casino, where she shared laughter and good times with family and friends. A devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers, she never missed a game, cheering on her team with unwavering support. Her creative spirit shone through in her hobbies; she crafted beautiful pieces through crocheting and delighted in the challenge of Dot-to-Dot puzzles.
Her memory will be treasured by her loving children and their spouses: Debbie Wick Simpson of Reese, Marty (Jennifer) Woods II of Linwood, and her bonus son, David (Lisa) Schluckbier of Luzerne. Betty was a proud grandmother to sixteen grandchildren: Tonya Woods, Jeff (Angela) Woods, Adam Wick, Kayla Woods, Molly (Michael) Phillips, Marvin (Chantel) Woods lll; bonus grandchildren, Kim, Penny, Jim, Brenda, Josh, Steven, Nicole, Jessica, Amber and Ashley, as well as many great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind her brother, Kenneth Green, and daughter-in-law, Marge Woods, who will both miss her deeply.
Betty's life was marked by the love she shared and the friendships she nurtured. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Rick Woods, and her siblings, Peter Green, Richard Green, Sally Shook, and John Green, who have now welcomed her into eternal peace.
Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan.
All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored that the Woods family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
