Beverly passed away peacefully with family members present on June 18th. She was born on February 3rd, 1930 in Blaine, Washington. She grew up in a rural setting north of Bellingham that included a small plot of land that supported the family with a few farm animals and a vegetable garden. She often shared fond memories of her time growing up there and while a humble beginning it was rich in the many things that mattered most to her. She graduated from Bellingham High School, cum laude, in 1948 and met her husband "to be" shortly thereafter. They married in January of 1950 in her family home which was then located in Bellingham. Early in their marriage our father was stationed in Japan while serving in the US Army. She joined him there for about a year and had many great memories of their time there learning the culture and seeing another nation a world apart from her early upbringing. After his enlistment ended they settled back in Washington State. Ultimately a few moves later they made their long term home in the Kent, Washington area in 1960 and lived there ever since.
Beverly was preceded in death by the passing of her husband in 2017 after sharing 67 years of marriage together. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Fjeran, her 3 children (Brad, Candace and Brenda), their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces and a nephew. Her work outside the home was varied with primary time spent with the phone company and as an office manager for an optometrist and lastly a dental practice. She was very involved and active for many years with the Kent Covenant Church supporting the benevolence for local families in need.
First and foremost our Mom loved and was incredibly proud of her family. She really enjoyed decorating their home and spending time there. After retirement they purchased a travel trailer and enjoyed exploring new places up and down the west coast. She never ceased to always enjoy the simple things in life. As an example when she received a birthday, anniversary or special occasion greeting card she would read it over and over as if every word was personally authored by the sender (sorry Hallmark!) and just enjoy the beauty of the card itself. We all took special care to select just the right one! She could spend time shopping like no one we've ever known and many times not purchase anything or if she did she might return it a few times until she got just the right thing. Our father spent many hours sitting on a bench somewhere waiting for the ordeal to conclude. She absolutely loved poetry and could recite and recall poems long ago memorized throughout her life.
She was a very special person in our lives and was loved and will be missed greatly. We go forward now knowing she is with her Lord and loved ones. We will honor her by living our lives well with the same compassion and support for others that she did.
