Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Jack Herrin Brooks will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Hineston, with Reverends Greg Mortensen and Calvin Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Elisha Memorial Cemetery, Glenmora, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Brooks, 88, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Allen Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center, Oakdale, LA.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed thrifting, collecting coins, and caring for animals. Billie loved her family and friends, always keeping God first. She was a true embodiment of a generous spirit, giving to anyone in need. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James, Jr. and Mary Herrin; one brother, James Herrin; and two sisters, Johnnie Polk and Delores Stevenson.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Alva Brooks of Glenmora; one son, Thomas Brooks (Patricia Annette) of Glenmora; one daughter, Terri Elizabeth Ferguson (Ralph) of Glenmora; one granddaughter, Audrey Brooks of Glenmora; one brother-in-law, Ronald Brooks (Florence) of Alexandria; two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean Meylian of Glenmora and Claudys Taylor of Glenmora; and special friends, Mike and Patricia Koch of Alexandria.
A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Hineston, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Allen Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center and St. Joseph Hospice.
