Reverend Billy Franklin Ballard, Sr., age 92 of Erwin, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 2, 2025 at his home.
Billy was born January 23, 1933 in Harnett County, NC to the late Lillian Ballard McLamb. Aldric McLamb was his step-father.
He completed High School and attended East Coast Bible College in Charlotte, NC. He founded the Barbourtown Church of God in 1967 and pastored there for 46 years. After retiring from ministry in 2013, he returned to his home church, the Erwin Church of God. Billy loved preaching the Word, serving others, and sharing Jesus with them. He also loved fishing, wood working, playing the guitar, singing, and spending time with family. Additionally, he also enjoyed mowing grass, often cutting the yards of neighbors and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Annie Parker Ballard; sons, Billy F. Ballard, Jr. (Revonda) of Erwin, Michael Ballard (Marcia) of Sanford; daughters, Debbie B. Norris (Wayne) of Coats, and Teresa Tripp (Shawn) of Erwin; grandchildren, Jordan Ballard (fiancée-Angelica Santana), Hannah Ballard, Ethan Norris, Ryan Norris (Abbigail), Madison Tripp and MaKayla Tripp; great grandson, Thomas Norris.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin at 904 Lucas Street in Erwin. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm with a Celebration service at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Erwin Memorial Park Cemetery.
