Billy Wayne Shirley, age 80, of Horton, passed away on May 11, 2025, at his residence. He was born on March 31, 1945, to the late Frank and Vera Shirley.
Billy proudly served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant, completing three tours in Vietnam and earning the Bronze Star. He served honorably for over seven years. Following his military service, he retired from Goodyear after more than 30 years of dedicated work. You could always find his loyal border collie, Zack, right by his side-a true companion he dearly loved.
He is survived by his children, Suzan Shirley Howard (Mark), Bryan Minter (Krissy), Rhonda Battles (Eddie), and Wayne Neal Caudle (Amy); grandchildren, Masen Howard, Anna Howard, Cody Minter (Aly), Maggie Minter Odom (Drew), John Paul Gray, Sarah Grace Henry, and Allie Caudle; and his brother, Danny Shirley (Cathy).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Sue Shirley, and his siblings, Bobby Shirley and Martha Nell Rice.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Highpoint Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home prior to the service.
