Billy Sullivan Obituary

Graveside services for Mr. Billy Eugene Sullivan, of Winnsboro, will be 2:00PM Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Forest Cemetery, near Pioneer, with Rev. Stevie Hillman officiating. Interment will directly follow under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Winnsboro. Prior to the service, visitation will be from 9:00AM until 12:00PM Sunday, at the funeral home.
Billy Eugene Sullivan was born March 16, 1949, in Delhi, LA and left this world on July 2, 2025, in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 76. As one of thirteen kids on a farm in Poverty Point, he grew up early and he grew up in hard times. As a young fella, he left the farm, the University of Epps, and hitchhiked to Los Angeles, CA and lived with his sister while he worked in the oil patch through his early years. This later led him to a career that spanned the globe and promoted him to supervisor of the buildout and operation of some of the world's largest and most productive oil rigs. From the Gulf of America to Brazil, to Singapore to the North Sea, he traveled the world, working to provide for the life he lived. Years later, he owned and operated a small business and went on to be appointed Environmental Engineer for pipeline companies across the country. Wherever he went, he made lasting friends, and to all his friends, he would ask that you not be sad, but celebrate a life well lived. Pop loved going to the annual Sullivan Family Reunion in Sullivan's Hollow in Smith County, Mississippi. He accomplished his life goals and left a piece of ground for future generations to enjoy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Ellen Elizabeth Gentry Sullivan; his father, Dewey W. Sullivan; six sisters, Helen, Ellen, Tinnie Sue, Wandis, Mary Katherine, and Ruby Nell; and four brothers, Joe, James "Jimmy" Edward, and "Baby Boy" Sullivan.
He is survived by his family, whom he was very proud of, and who will forever cherish his memory: one son, Monty Sullivan and wife, Kelley of Prairieville; two sisters, Paulette "Polly" of Rayville and Sheron of Monroe; his grandchildren, Logan Speck and husband, Joseph, of Prairieville, Maci Mouton and husband, Randal of Crowley, Baylee Sullivan and Allie Sullivan, both of Geismar; also survived by six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Campbell, Michael Costello, Peyton Fisher, Randal Mouton, Max Reeves, Joseph Speck, Barry Sullivan, James Clay Sullivan, and Chris Thomas. Honorary pallbearer will be Trey Howard.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of TLC Hospice of Winnsboro and Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for their ongoing concern and loving care.
