Bobbie Jean Fulton Cannon passed away on February 21, 2026 in the Fulton family farmhouse in Nanih Waiya, Mississippi, where her father grew up and where she was born on February 13, 1935. Her early years were greatly influenced by World War II after her oldest brother was captured in the Philippines by the Japanese and survived as a prisoner of war for three years.

Bobbie graduated from Bond High School in Neshoba County and subsequently received an associate degree from East Central Junior College. After college she married Donavon Bruce Cannon. Don joined the Air Force, and she fondly recalled time spent in Edinburgh, Scotland.

After completing his Air Force commission, they returned to Neshoba County to the Cannon family farm. Bobbie held positions as a bookkeeper and executive secretary with various businesses in Philadelphia. Her life took a major turn at age 38 when her husband died suddenly leaving her a single parent to three children.

She will be remembered for her sense of fashion and her skill as a decorator. However, her greatest passion was gardening, and she used the knowledge and skills passed down to her from her mother that she in turn passed on to her own children. After retirement, she moved to the family farmhouse where she grew up and remained there until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Green Harvey Fulton and Virgie Mae Stokes Fulton, and her husband Donavon Bruce Cannon. She was also preceded by her siblings Green Walton Fulton (Elizabeth), Minnie Frances Jarvis (Edward), Prentiss Grady Fulton (Margie), Grace Wauldine Houston (Bob), Glen Jeff Fulton (Camille), Shirley Ann Fulton (Granville) and sister-in-law June Harvey Fulton (Forest).

Bobbie is survived by her children Deborah “Debbie” Frances Cannon, Don Timothy Cannon (Marsha), Steven “Steve” Fulton Cannon; her grandchildren Timothy Creed Cannon (Mary Michael), Samuel Fulton Cannon (Charlene), and Clara Frances Cannon Simmons (Cooper); along with great grandchildren Timothy Creed “Camp” Cannon, Jr. and Mamie Cannon Simmons. She is also survived by her brother, James Forest Fulton.

Pallbearers are The Honorable Thomas Fulton, Mayor Jim Fulton, Mr. Bill Copeland, Dr. Pat Chaney, Mr. Mandy Fulton, Dr. Glen Stribling, Dr. Harper Stone, Mr. William “Bill” Nation, Jr., Mr. Jason Fulton, and Dr. Randy Richardson.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 27 at 11:00 am at Coy Community Church, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will  follow at Bond Methodist Church Cemetery. There will be a reception following at the Nanih Waiya Farm.

The family would like to offer a very heartfelt thank you to Judy Allen, Minnie Coleman, and Quality Hospice for taking such good care of her these last few years. You have all been a godsend!

Memorials may be made to Rosalie Mansion, 100 Orleans Street, Natchez, MS 39120.
