Bobby Dee Pickett "Gramps," 84, of Sweetwater was born on September 15, 1940 in Abilene, Tx to Mr. and Mrs.Tommy Dee Pickett. He departed from this earth the morning of July 20, 2025. Bob was a man who could light up a room with nothing more than a raised eyebrow, a clever pun, or an impeccably timed joke. He never met a situation too serious for a little humor. He is leaving behind a legacy of joy, endless jokes, and countless memories. Bob married Carol Fisk in Ventura, California on June 18, 1960. Together they raised 2 children, Bobby and Debbie, moved to Sweetwater, Texas in 1965. Growing up and through his time in the navy, Bob had a love for cars. He joined the family used car business and helped run Tommy Pickett Motor Company for over 50 years. His humor and his love for cars has been passed down through his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with family and friends, who have felt his love and support throughout the years. Bob is survived by his children, Bobby and wife Sara, Debbie Martin and husband Don, 6 grandchildren, Kara Johnson and husband Kade, Tyler Martin and wife Morgan, Tanner Martin and wife Morgan, Kaylee Martin and husband Stock, Ethan Pickett and Wyatt Pickett. Bob is also survived by his 8 great grandchildren, brother Wiley Pickett and wife Pat of Rock, Michigan, sister Georgan Hausenfluke of Bonham, Texas, as well as his loving partner Gloria Carlton. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol of almost 45 years, his parents Gladys Wainscoat and Tommy Pickett, step-mother Wynona Pickett, sister Nona Wainscoat and grandson Trevor Don Martin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22 from 6-7 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home and Funeral services will be held at McCoy Chapel of Memories on Wednesday, July 23 at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, Tx.
Grandson Tyler Martin will be officiating the service with pallbearers Kade Johnson, Tanner Martin, Stock Martin, Ethan Pickett, Wyatt Pickett and Koy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the "Usual Suspects" and the 3PM Coffee Drinkers. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
