SORRENTO
Brandon F. Pettengill, 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sorrento on June 27, 2025. Brandon was born in Ellsworth on July 20, 1973, the son of Julie Piper Mason and Richard Pettengill.
Brandon graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1991. After graduation, he followed his passion for autobody work on vehicles. He had an impeccable eye for detail. He worked for several auto body shops including Precision Auto Body, Tracey Auto Body & Repair, and Piper's Auto Body. In 1995, he went on to be ASE Certified with Ashmore Brothers, which was his mother's business. At one point in time, he owned his own businesses, Lakeside Auto and Pettengill Pro Paint & Graffix. Brandon also had his Class A license and enjoyed driving trucks for Haslam Septic, Bill's Towing, Atherton's Construction, B&B Paving, Doug Gott, and Goodwins. In addition, he loved plowing in the winter and had a love for the ocean in the summer, spending time hauling lobster traps with friends, building and setting floats, and doing carpentry work.
Brandon had many creative and artistic talents including drawing. He enjoyed hanging out with family and knee boarding at camp on Flanders Pond. In his free time, he also enjoyed going to Speedway 95, racing motorcycles at Winterport Dragway, racing snowmobiles, and riding 3 wheelers. He loved top fuel drag cars and bikes as well as watching NASCAR, rooting for Earnhardt's, Jeff Gordon and NHRA drag racer, John Force. He enjoyed listening to rock, heavy metal and country music. Brandon was a likeable and talented guy with a great sense of humor, always knowing how to make people laugh with his many antics and stories. He had a love for animals and had several pets over the years including a few dogs that were special to him.
Brandon is survived by his proudest accomplishment in life, his son, Codey Pettengill and partner Alicia Handy; his son's mother, Jessica DeRaps and husband Danny of all of Ellsworth; stepbrother, Timothy Mason and wife Tara of Hancock; and his father, Richard Pettengill and wife Kathleen of Florida; many aunts, uncles and cousins including his uncle, Jasie Piper and wife Jane; cousins, Mark Piper and wife Kara; and Jamey Piper and wife Melanie. He leaves behind lots of friends including special friend & mentor, Burnie Gordon and wife Selena and friend, Rudy Bagley who have all helped him along the way. Brandon was predeceased by his mother, Julie Piper Mason and stepfather Wayne; grandmother, Arlene Piper Bradford; and his favorite dogs, Snuffy, Damian and GSXR.
Brandon will be missed by many and will never be forgotten. www.acadiacremation.com
