Braxton Bernard Smythe, age 83 of White House, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born October 27, 1941 in Nashville, TN to Braxton Bragg and Ruth Jackson Smythe. He worked as a carpenter and was retired from RCR Building Corporation. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Long Hollow Baptist Church as a member of the Speight Life Group. He enjoyed working on the farm, building things and working with horses, riding and raising them. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joyce Ledbetter Smythe, White House, TN; brother, John M. (Anita) Smythe, Mountain Home, AR; sisters, Margaret Gentry, White House, TN and Jane Parks, Cottontown, TN. Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Don Speight officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with Duane Gentry, Jacob Parks, Joey Parks, Jerry Reynolds, Brandon Reynolds and Cody Ledbetter serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family is planned for Tuesday, July 22, 2025 10AM-1PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are respectfully requested to East Robertson Elementary PTO, Attention: Hannah Davis 5177 East Robertson Road Cross Plains, TN 37049.
