A lifelong resident of Onslow County, Brenda was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and spent much of her professional life contributing to her family-owned car business as a bookkeeper. She later served as a records clerk for the Jacksonville Police Department, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and dedication to her work.
Brenda had a passion for cooking, and her kitchen was always filled with warmth and delicious aromas. She was best known for her chicken pastry and ambrosia salad, dishes that brought comfort and joy to family gatherings.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Michelle Cook of Richlands and Ashleigh Cook of Jacksonville, who were her pride and joy, and she was a guiding light in their lives. As a grandmother, or "Nannan," she delighted in spending time with her grandchildren-Jordan, Izaak, Johnny, Sebastian, and Skylar-sharing stories, laughter, and the best hugs given.
Brenda is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Shivelhood of Jacksonville, with whom she shared a home, and Angela Wade (Andre) of Richlands. Her niece and nephews, Susan Shivelhood Brown, Jason Shivelhood, Michael Taylor, and Hunter Wade also hold her memory dear.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fulton Lee Jenkins; mother, Vivian (Carter) Whaley; and her nephew, George Shivelhood, III.
