Brenda Gail Hudson Hicks, of
Pageland, SC, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on December 15, 2024, at the age of 73 in Monroe, North Carolina. She was born on January 11, 1951 in Greer, South Carolina to the late John Hudson, Sr. and Gladys E. Turner Hudson. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Kay Hicks; brothers, Johnny Hudson, Mike Hudson and Tim Hudson and great granddaughter, Harmony Grace Wallace.
A devout member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Brenda's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She lived her beliefs through her actions, often giving things to everyone she met and passing out scripture cards as tokens of her faith and kindness. Brenda's generosity of spirit was evident in the way she cherished and nurtured her relationships, always putting others before herself.
Family was the heart of Brenda's world. She is survived by her loving daughters, Melony McNeil (John) of
Pageland, SC and Amy Jordan (Chris) of Lancaster, SC. Brenda's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Cody McNeil, Christa McNeil, Carmen McNeil, Julia Jordan, and Emma Jordan, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ayden, Kenzlee, Makenzie, Greyson, Mason, Spencer, and Remi. Each of them was a source of immense joy and pride for Brenda, and she was affectionately known as the matriarch who loved her "grand babies" with every fiber of her being. She is also survived by her brothers, Mark Hudson (Sandra) of Westville, SC and Chris Hudson (Cheryl) of Dothan AL and her sister-in-law, Cynthia Hudson of Monroe, NC.
She was an avid collector of seashells during her walks on the beach at Oak Island, a place that held a special spot in her heart. Camping trips were among her favorite getaways, providing opportunities for family bonding and creating cherished memories. Brenda had a love for the "The Wizard of Oz"
Christmas was a season that brought out the brightest spark in Brenda, especially her adoration for the Grinch. Described as loving, friendly, and faith-filled, Brenda's impact on the lives she touched was profound. She was a beacon of light and warmth, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering faith, which will continue to inspire those who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall in
Pageland, SC.
There will be a Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Wednesday December 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Mack Mullis officiating. The burial will following in the church cemetery.
