Kinder - Brenda Sue Smith Fruge, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 28, 2025. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2 PM. Rev. Keith Smith will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Green Oak Cemetery. All of Brenda's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will welcome visitors on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Ardoin Funeral Home in Kinder from 11 AM until time of service.
Brenda was a lifelong resident of Kinder. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Ed, for 66 years until his passing a year ago. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed visiting with friends, family, and the community in her beauty shop, "Green Oak Beauty Barn." On any given day, the latest news from town and the Green Oak community was the subject of discussion. She also loved selling Mary Kay products to her customers and friends. Her final job was volunteering as a substitute teacher at Kinder Elementary. Brenda enjoyed tending to flowers, crafting, and traveling with her family. She was dearly loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish Brenda's memory include her three sons, Don Edward Fruge and wife, Linda, Paul Douglas "Doug" Fruge and wife, Sharie, and Ronald "Drew" Fruge and wife, Rolinda; eleven grandchildren, Jeffery Fruge and wife, Lydia, Natalie Morris and husband, David, Rachelle Fruge, Kristy Frost and husband, Eric, Jessica Williams and husband, Darrell, Kristal Ortego, Kayla Shipley and husband, Tanner, Blake Ortego and wife, Charlene, Karaline Zayor and husband, Adam, Joshua Fruge and wife, Danielle, and Rebekah Spencer and husband, Adam; seventeen great grandchildren; Scott, Harrison, Maryjane, Malaki, Eli, Brianna, Christian, Lakelyn, Alysha, Drake, Lillian, Makayla, Emma, Quinn, Leo, Jonah, and Lyla; two brothers, H.W. "Bill" Smith, Jr. and wife, Genevieve, and Jerry R. Smith and wife, Emmy; one sister, Tammy Franklin and husband, Curt; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margie Smith; her husband, Ed Fruge, her great grandson, Jude Fruge; two brothers, Pierre and Roger Smith; and one sister, Carolyn Hodges.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jeff Fruge, Josh Fruge, John A. Fruge, Julian Marcantel, Cody Smith, and Jason Smith.
