Brenda Throckmorton, a cherished soul and devoted member of the South Boston, VA, community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on October 29th, 1947, Brenda lived a life full of love, resilience, and beauty.
A lifelong beautician, Brenda dedicated her professional life to helping others feel confident and beautiful. Her talents extended far beyond her career, as she was also known for her vibrant participation in the political community, where her voice and passion left an indelible mark.
Brenda is lovingly remembered by her son, Jason Throckmorton and his wife Brenda, and her daughter, Brittney Samples and her husband Clay. She was an adored grandmother to Emerson Quick and her husband Christian, Avery Throckmorton, and Layla, Riverly, and Fisher Samples, as well as a beloved great-grandmother to Lorelai Quick.
Her siblings, Joyce Thomas, Chucky Cook and his wife Vickie, Tim Shelton and his wife Marilyn, Les Cook and his wife Beverly, and Dana Cook and his wife Debbie, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends Renne Russell and Jeanette Shull, will deeply miss her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Brenda is predeceased by her parents, Charlie Dudley Shelton and Stella New Cook; her husband, Billy Throckmorton; and siblings, Michael Shelton, Gloria Jones, and John "Randy" Shelton.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Brenda’s life at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home in South Boston, VA. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15th, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Brenda will be laid to rest at Halifax Memorial Garden in South Boston, VA.
Brenda's legacy as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted community member will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her tenacity and strength, especially as a cancer survivor, continue to be an inspiration.
Brenda's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have shared in her remarkable journey.
