Brock Daniel Mintie, age 36, of Windsor, WI left us too early on Monday, July 21, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1989 in Wichita, Kansas to Fred and Trina (Hatch) Mintie. He married the love of his life, Charlotte (Stanford) Mintie on October 10, 2015 and loved his son, Rowan, with a love that stretched to galaxies far, far away.
Brock loved being outdoors– camping, hiking, hunting, snowboarding, riding his motorcycle, sitting by the firepit, and making memories with family and friends. He was happiest when he was organizing and leading adventures for which he was never on time yet always overprepared.
“Uncle Buck’s” quirky sense of humor and contagious smile endeared him to his many nieces and nephews. Rowan and his cousins remember that he was never afraid to look ridiculous, and he could make anyone laugh with light saber battles, Pokèmon cards, epic Lego projects, and Disney songs belted at full volume.
Brock’s deep love of animals led him to a career providing care and enrichment to animals as common as goats and dogs and as diverse as tigers, elk, gorillas and lemurs–first for the Sedgwick County Zoo and later for various organizations across Wisconsin. He was especially proud of the educational programming he provided at Cristo Rey Ranch and Lakeside Park. It was common for Brock to greet pets before people when entering a home, and he was a devoted pet parent.
Brock is survived by his wife: Charlotte; son: Rowan; parents: Fred and Trina; sister: Kateri (Nic) Grillot; brothers: Brian (Jenne), Brad (Elizabeth), Brett, and Bryce; the Stanford family: Daniel, Peggy, Molly, and Lorraine (Kyle) Johnson; nieces: Clara, Kendall, Athena, Aster, and Lumen; nephews: Mason, Hayden, Noah, Connor, Ollie, Brody, and Quintin; numerous aunts and uncles; and the friends who loved him.
Private arrangements are entrusted to Cress Funeral Service in Waunakee, to be followed by a public celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Henry Vilas Zoo and Cristo Rey Ranch.
