Bruce Warner Berglund was born June 20, 1947 in Bemidji, MN to Warner and Lucille Berglund. After a brave battle against cancer, Bruce passed away July 7, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Bruce grew up in Nymore (and a short time in Finland, MN). He attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1965. After high school, he moved down to the Twin Cities and worked at Pearson Candy Company. It did not take long for him to realize that he was not made for city life and he moved back home to Bemidji. In 1967, Bruce enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Bruce earned the rank of Private E-6, he was a cook and also earned the title of Sharpshooter (rifle). He was honorably discharged in 1972. During this time, on October 11, 1969, Bruce married Patricia Ann Magnuson from Solway, MN. They lived in Nymore and moved to their home in Turtle River, MN in 1976. He and Pat had two daughters, Krisann and Laura. In October of 1999, Bruce gained his favorite son-in-law, Andy Fisher when he and Laura married. In 2003, he became a proud grandfather to Demi Kay Fisher. In 2016, he welcomed a step-son, Dan Anderson and two step-granddaughters, Taylor and Riley Anderson. Family was always a top priority to Bruce and he said "the more the merrier."
Bruce was a hard worker his entire life. He was a delivery driver and a heavy equipment operator. Most of his work career was spent paving roads for Thorson's and later working for the City of Bemidji on the garbage truck and eventually the head grader operator.
Bruce retired in 2006 and was able to start enjoying his passion for fishing, full time. He loved every moment on the lake, dragging worms and catching walleyes. He also enjoyed grouse hunting and deer hunting. Bruce was always working to have a perfect lawn, Back 40 trails, and food plot.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Lucille Berglund, his infant brother Douglas Berglund, nephew Tom Olson, and niece Courtney Magnuson. Bruce is survived by his wife Pat Berglund, his daughters Krisann Berglund and Laura (Andy) Fisher, his granddaughter Demi Kay Fisher, sisters Jean (Ole) Olson and Diane (Ray) Klasen, step-son Dan (Nancy) Anderson and step-granddaughters Taylor and Riley Anderson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In honor of our Dad and his love of fishing we would like to ask everyone, if you have a Huk fishing shirt or any fishing shirt, please wear it.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, July 18, 2025 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. There will be a gathering at the Eagles Club in Bemidji following the service.
