Pageland, S.C. – Missionary, Bruce H. Hosner embarked into eternity with the Lord on the evening of Thursday, July 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his earthly home. While his earthly departure deeply saddens us, we are comforted to know that Bruce is dancing with Jesus on streets of gold.
Bruce was born on November 10,1949 in Allegan, Michigan to the late Harold Albert and Margaret Mae (Cone) Hosner. He graduated from Bloomingdale High School in Bloomingdale, Michigan. Following high school, Bruce served as a Specialist Fourth Class Supply Specialist for the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. Following his military service, he worked alongside his father in the family transportation industry, and ultimately became co-owner of the family business, Hosner Trucking for 21 years. In 1991, Bruce answered God’s call and entered full time missionary work, which landed he and his beloved family in Waxhaw, North Carolina and later in Pageland, South Carolina. Bruce served as a mechanic, international airfreight coordinator, and recently served as the water safety coordinator with Wycliffe Bible Translators assigned to JAARS in Waxhaw, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hosner was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Hosner, his best friends, T.J. Holley and Thom Elkinton, and favorite canine companions Freckles and Moody.
Bruce, a genuine and compassionate family man who displayed the importance of family and dedication to the Lord, will be greatly missed by many, but mostly by his surviving family who include; devoted and loving wife of 50 years, Gail L Hosner; children Ryan (Sherry) Hosner and Faith (Robert) Hargett of Pageland, South Carolina; grandchildren Christian Hargett and Nathaniel Hargett; two great-grandchildren; brother Keith(Cynthia) Hosner of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister-in-law Sue Hosner Carpenter; nephew Tim Hosner; niece Monica(Michael) Mansfield; and his beloved canine companion, Annabelle.
Bruce enjoyed playing music with his Fender, Gibson, and Gretsch guitars, and back in the 1960’s was in a garage band named The Jaguars out of Bloomingdale, Michigan. He had a deep appreciation for aviation, as he was a private pilot to single engine planes and enjoyed flying his family in his Cherokee into the blue skies. Christmas was inevitably his favorite holiday and his eyes gleamed with immense joy with the ambient glow of Christmas lights. His favorite place to vacation was the Christmas Inn in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with his faithful wife at his side. Bruce was an electronics connoisseur of his prized surround sound stereo system, amateur radios, and had a remote control for almost any and every gadget. He shared this electronics hobby with his son, who follows in his father’s electronic footsteps, along with train watching and love for sports cars. You could usually find Bruce telling stories, enjoying a good movie, and cracking jokes alongside of his daughter, who was the apple of his eye. Above all of the many recreations and hobbies that Bruce enjoyed, he absolutely adored and cherished his family the most. His wit and sense of humor carries on through each of his family members in many different ways. Bruce’s passion was to share the love of Jesus and testify of His life-changing power with his many friends, church family, and anyone who listened with open ears. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 KJV
