Bruce Pettengill Obituary

Bruce was born on June 1, 1958 in Derby, CT, the second child of Bruce Kent Pettengill and

Alice Lee Montgomery. Bruce, his sister Rose, their mother and grandmother relocated from CT

to Memphis in 1960.

The family later moved to Hernando, MS where Bruce obtained his diploma from Hernando

High School. As the class clown, Bruce was beloved by the students at Hernando High.

However, his humor and pranks frequently led to after school detention!.

Bruce worked as a freight specialist at FedEx for 20 years prior to his retirement.

Bruce excelled at history and the Bible. He knew everything from the world's creation through

the present. Bruce had a knack for nailing the correct answer to any Jeopardy history or Bible

clue well before the contestants hit their buzzers.

Bruce received his first guitar at age 13, quickly mastered it and played bass in several local

garage bands.. He was skilled at refurbishing guitars and refurbished many...

Bruce's drama skills garnered him parts in numerous local theater productions and several

movies filmed in Memphis, including "The Brian Banks Story". His final movie role was a Greek

Orthodox priest! Bruce was active in AA from 1988 until his health declined. Recovery and

Sobriety was among Bruce's proudest accomplishments. Bruce was preceded in death by his

grandmother Chloe Lee, his mother Alice Montgomery, his

brother Thomas Harper, his sister Dawn Pettengill and his nephew Nicholas Manos.

He is survived by his son Bruce Kent Pettengill III of Olive Branch, MS (mother Susan

Smith), his daughter Jessica Pettengill-Manos of Kenosha, WI (late mother Natalie Chandler);

his sister Rose Manos (Marc) of Columbia, SC, their daughters Jessica and Rebecca and their

Two grandchildren; his sister Jennifer Barriga (Pablo) of Derby, CT, their children Lindsey, Jaime

and Jesse and their five grandchildren; his sister April Pruzinsky (Tim) of Derby, CT, their

Children Aubrey and Tristan and their two grandchildren; his late sister Dawn Pettengill's

children Cassie,Ryan, Jessica and their children; his late brother Thomas Harper's son Dalton
