Rexal "Bud" Underwood, 88 of Blountsville passed away Friday July 18, 2025, at his residence. Bud was born February 13, 1937, in Blount County, the son of Bluford Ural Underwood and Lillie Mae Brooks Underwood. He attended J.B. Pennington High School and then married Ola Fay Yates with whom he shared life with for almost 70 years. He was a truck driver most of his working years, driving the longest for McPherson Oil before retiring. He drove for Ferrellgas part time after he retired. Bud loved J.B. Pennington athletics, and not only did he support when his children and grandchildren were playing but long after they all graduated, he and Fay continued to attend ball games. They were among the first to hold season seats at football games when that option was introduced many years ago. He was also an avid Alabama Fan. He is survived by his wife: Fay Underwood; children: Roger (Karren) Underwood, Ronda (Roger) South and Rodney (Beckey) Underwood; grandchildren: Alison (Sean) Owen, Dustin (Liz) South, Whitney (Eric) Brown, Tyler South, Andrew (Tiffany) Underwood, Shae (Cody) Rowell and Evan (Tara) Underwood; thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bluford and Lillie Underwood; sisters: Mildred, Lucille, Ruth, Irene, Virginia and Jewel; brothers: J.B., Pete, V.E., his twin brother: Drexal "Peto", Hershel and Buddy. Funeral Service was 11:00 a.m. Monday July 21, 2025, at Blountsville Funeral Home with Brother Michael Murphree officiating. The burial was in Roswell Creek Cemetery, Blountsville Funeral Home directing. Visitation was 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Blountsville Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Dustin South, Tyler South, Andrew Underwood, Evan Underwood, Liam Owen and Cody Rowell. Honorary Pallbearers: Gene Hall, Larry Yarbrough, Eddie Underwood and Wayne Underwood.
