Butch Hammond Obituary

Oliver Wayne "Butch" Hammond, 74 of Holden, Missouri passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Butch was born March 27, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Oliver Paul and Norma Fern (Belew) Hammond. He attended Holden High School. Butch spent the majority of his adult life in Holden and the surrounding area. He worked in carpentry and carpet and linoleum installation. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads and other antiques, Harley Davidsons, and Corvettes. Survivors include his daughter: Mindy Lea Hammond of Independence, MO; son: Vernon Wayne Hammond (Jennie) of Blue Springs, MO; stepson: Danny West (Teresa) of Independence, MO; ten grandchildren: Makae Suady, Katelyne Kimbrough (Gabe), Gracie Kay Hammond, Jack Wayne Hammond, Ashton Michael Wolfe, Corbin James Wolfe, Alisyn Marie Schraeder, Jude West, Noble West and Ashton Fletcher and a great grandson, Theodore Thomas Kimbrough; sister: Theresa Bryant of Holden and nephew: Cody Bryant of Holden; He is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather: Jack Smith; nephew: Tony Bryant and stepdaughter: Rebekkah Fletcher. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6th at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden, with interment to immediately follow at the Medford Cemetery, south of Holden.
