Butch (Rowdy) Kincade passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025 in his home at the age of 86. A proud Wewokan for 64 years, he was born in Hanna, Oklahoma on December 28, 1938. He was the youngest of 14 children who all precede him in death. Also, preceding him in death is one son, Kevin Kincade and one great grandson, Blake Austin Miller.
He attended Moss High School and graduated in 1957. He played basketball and was an All-State baseball player. After high school he played baseball on some professional farm clubs. He also attended Oklahoma Baptist University on a baseball scholarship of which he said, "it took me one week to get in and one week to get out".
He met his wife, Marilyn in high school. They married in 1958 and had 3 sons, David Keith, Kevin Lynn and Kerry Don. They settled in Wewoka in 1961.
Rowdy wore many hats during his working days. Boeing Aircraft, ODOT helping build I-40, Muir's Quick Meal, and Wonder Bread. He had a desire to have his own business and owned 3 convenience stores in Wewoka during the 70's, 80's and 90's. His last place of employment before retirement was for Wewoka Schools as Grounds and Transportation Director where he gathered many friends and fond memories. Always working, always doing more. He loved gardening. He would laugh about the spring he planted tomatoes four times as "the froze" got each plant.
Never doing anything small, he helped his grandkids overfeed their livestock projects as they were often the biggest and fattest at the Seminole County Livestock Show.
Rowdy was always willing to help just about anyone, he always had a, as he would call them, "helper" friend working beside him on his projects later in life. As they helped him he would keep them warm, fed, clothed and going to church. Always eager to build. He was one of the builders of the old Lighthorseman Arena north of town. He cut logs from the forest in Lamar and built two log cabins on Lake Wewoka. He built a house beside a house, doubling its size and put it all under one roof. The ultimate in "as you go"architecture and engineering.
He loved good food and simple cooking. His next project was a burger joint that is still on hold. Chicken and dumplings and chili, parched peanuts, popcorn, ice cream cones and oreos his grandkids will remember.
A lover of God, a constant bible student, Rowdy was a faithful member of the Wewoka Church of Christ where he taught a Tuesday night bible class for better than 20 years. He was always grateful to a group of elders in the church who gave him the tough love he needed as a young man and changed his life and his legacy forever.
God's word, love, hard work, service, laughter. These he carried with him. In his words "Lord willing and the creeks don't rise", we will meet again.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marilyn, his oldest son Keith Kincade and his wife Deanna, his youngest son Kerry Kincade and his wife Jennifer.
12 grandchildren: Kassie Kincade, Katie and Matt Logan, Kendell and Brett Miller, Khanaa and Ryon Langrehr, Madison and Jesse Grandstaff, Stevi and Lucas Simmons, Kali and Ty Williams, Ellie Kincade, Jackson and Lauren Kincade, Edie Kincade, Sonny Kincade and Ivy Kincade.
11 Great grandchildren: Lily Logan, Lynzi Langrehr, Sadie Miller, Lucy Logan, Rowelz Langrehr, Jude Grandstaff, Camille Grandstaff, Gus Williams, Margot Simmons, Shep Logan and Colter Williams.
A very special thanks for Rowdy's caretaker and dear friend Marcus Brown for his love, laughter and kindness over the last 2 years and to HALO HOSPICE and their wonderful nurses and caregivers.
Rowdy's memorial service will be at 11 am at the Wewoka church of Christ on Wednesday July 9th, 2025 with Aaron Alsbrook officiating.
