Carl Benson Obituary

He was born May 14, 1940, in Cumberland. He was the son of the late Chester C. Benson and Lottie I. Benson-Erickson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his ten siblings.
He graduated from Fort Hill High School with the class of 1958. He then served his country with the U.S. Marine Corp, and went on to a career with the railroad eventually retiring from CSX.
Pug is survived by his four children, Cheryl Shirey (Barry), Crystal Elrod (Donald), Carl Benson (Trina), and Cathy Holland (JT); 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; a special friend, JoAnn Shipley; and a very large extended family including numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, July 11th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard at 6:00 pm, with a memorial service immediately following.
